Pigging Pigs

Pigging pigs clean pipelines by using their capsule-shaped bodies to scrub internal surfaces as they move through the line. Fluid pressure pushes them forward, and their brushing action removes buildup inside the pipe. This process is called pigging. In addition to cleaning, operators also use pigging pigs to inspect the condition of pipelines.

Key components of the pigging process include pig launchers and receivers. A pig launcher inserts the pigging pig into the pipeline at the starting point. The flow of fluid then drives the pig through the pipeline, where it performs cleaning or separation tasks. At the end of the line, a pig receiver will collect the pigging pig.

Pigging pigs are also valuable in multiproduct pipelines, where they serve to separate different batches of products. This results in significant savings by reducing product loss and minimizing downtime needed for switching between products. Moreover, by substituting line flushing with pigging pigs, the use of environmentally hazardous chemical cleaners can be avoided.

Pigging pigs are typically used for tasks such as:

Cleaning pipelines and removing accumulated sludge
Separating batches of various products within the same pipeline
Inspecting pipeline integrity and conditions

Years of Experience

With years of expertise in the design and supply of premium pigging equipment, we understand the critical role your pipelines play as valuable infrastructure. To ensure ongoing integrity, effective maintenance, and reliable flow assurance, it’s essential to equip them with high-performance pigging solutions.

Although a wide range of standard pigging products exist to meet most pipeline requirements, there are situations where off-the-shelf solutions fall short. This can happen in the presence of excessive debris, unknown internal conditions, or complex pipeline configurations—such as wye sections, dual or multi-diameter lines, or extended pipeline runs.

That’s why partnering with an experienced supplier is vital. Our in-depth knowledge and proven track record enable us to deliver custom-engineered pigging equipment that performs where standard tools cannot—ensuring your pipelines stay clean, efficient, and fully operational.
